These classic stories are brought to the comic strip page by highly talented writer/artists James Lawrence and Yaroslav Horak. Expertly drawn and highly detailed, James Bond’s adventures are a nostalgic trip into the characters past and world. This volume features a special introduction by Bond girl Britt Ekland (Mary Goodnight), an article on post-Fleming James Bond novel Colonel Sun, a feature exploring Kingsley Amis’ relationship with the 007 world, a story checklist, an article on adapting the novel from story to comic strip, an interview with writer Jim Lawrence and the second post-Ian Fleming Bond comic strip story River of Death.

Bond faces the ultimate challenge in Colonel Sun. When the secret agent’s boss M is kidnapped in Greece Bond undertakes a desperate mission to rescue him, making some unusual alliances along the way. He discovers it is all part of a larger plan, a plan to sabotage a USSR summit with the evil Colonel Sun trying to frame the British Secret Service for the crime. Is M just bait for a trap laid out for Bond? Unfortunately, only Colonel Sun has the answers! Together with original Bond strip River of Death this makes another collection of exciting, action-packed adventures that will leave every fan and newcomer shaken but not stirred!

Kingsley Amis under the pseudonym Robert Markham was responsible for James Bond books Colonel Sun and The James Bond Dossier. He was a novelist, poet, teacher and critic and in his career wrote more than twenty novels that does not include short stories, poetry, radio and television scripts and critical works on society and literature. Apart from his work on Bond his most well known work includes Lucky Jim and the Booker Prize-winning The Old Devils. James Lawrence began his career scripting training films for the US Armed Forces before moving on to writing Bond, Buck Rogers and Joe Palooka. Yaroslav Horak has worked on comics like the outback adventure strip Mike Steele, Captain Fortune, Andrea, Cop Shop and Sergeant Pat of the Radio Patrol, in addition to creating The Mask and Jet Fury. He illustrated all the feature James Bond stories except Casino Royale.

“It’s a grittier, more cold-hearted Bond, closer in spirit to the novels than the hi-jinks of the cinema, but Yaroslav Horak’s stylishly scratchy art melds glamour with action for a refreshingly unconventional take on a familiar icon.” – SFX Magazine

“offers a more ruthless, undiluted interpretation of 007, and is a must for Bond aficionados.” – Matt Adams

“writer and artist not only pull off with consummate ease the difficult trick of keeping the story in the air in a daily series of two- and three- panel strips, but also maintain tension and action, and supply plenty of shocks, glamorous locations, and, of course, beautiful women.” – Paul McAuley
