A powerful steel claw and the ability to become invisible, what will he do? Reprinted in hardback for the first time in forty years this collection brings together the earliest adventures of Louis Crandell aka The Steel Claw. These are extremely rare, long out of print stories not seen since the 1960s. Developed by Ken Bulmer and Jesús Blasco for British comic Valiant, The Steel Claw was an instant hit and continued until 1973. The stories mix exciting, tension filled science-fiction action from writer Ken Bulmer with the moody, atmospheric art of Spanish master Jesús Blasco. The collection also contains detailed biographies on the Claw creators, a story checklist, an article chronicling the history of The Steel Claw with a new cover by acclaimed artist Brian Bolland (Batman: The Killing Joke).

The Steel Claw: The Vanishing Man introduces us to research assistant Louis Crandell, a man that after one fateful day lost a hand in a laboratory accident and gained a metal claw. A second accident involving an electrical surge transforms him, making every part of him except his claw invisible. How much bad luck can a person have! Electricity powers his invisibility but will Crandell use his new-found ability for good or to terrorize? What begins is a race to find a possible cure before the law captures him. An amazing trip through the Silver Age of British comics, a piece of history every person interested in comics should own!

Ken Bulmer is a critically-acclaimed science-fiction writer and editor with over 150 books to his name. Apart from The Steel Claw his work includes Jet-Ace Logan, Karl the Viking, Worst Boy in the School, Mike Kane, Gladiator, The Drowned World and The Angry Planet to name a few, having worked for many comic strip companies. Jesús Blasco started drawing at a very early age and his early work was an episode of Buffalo Bill for Comet in 1954. Before co-creating The Steel Claw Blasco worked for Cowboy Picture Library, Playhour, Marty, Cherie, Roxy, Valentine and Eagle.
